I'm not sure if I need BCI, FBI or both?

Not sure which fingerprint background check you need?

  1. Contact the employer or organization to determine which one you need. If the wrong service is selected, you or employer/organization would have to pay a second time to submit the proper background check.
  2. You must also know your ORC code or codes aka “Reason Codes” in order for LCA Fingerprints to provide services. These codes are required by the BCI/FBI in order to properly conduct the required background check. Entering the wrong code would cause the BCI/FBI to require a second fingerprinting at you or your employer/organizations expense.

If you don’t know your reason code, ask the employer or organization that sent you for the background check.

Do I get a copy of the background check right away?

No, because it has to be sent to the appropriate government agency for processing.

Is your webcheck software state-certified and frequently updated?

Yes!

How long does it take until I get background check results?

Typically, it takes between 3-5 business days for the background check to be processed and then mailed out. There could be delays based on the volume of requests or any data returned that requires further investigation.

Can I use the same background check for multiple opportunities?

You can request a BCI copy from the State of Ohio Attorney General Office 877-224-0043 within 1 month of service for free to send to an address of your choice. However, if it’s after 1 month and up to 11 months you can request from the State of Ohio Attorney General Office for an additional fee. You can’t use a BCI check for multiple opportunities if they are for different reason codes. i.e. Nursing and Teacher. You can’t use same check for the FBI no matter what.
